About us
Built by an EV owner, for EV owners. Free for everyone.
It started with a familiar problem
As EV users, we found it surprisingly difficult to understand how much a charge was going to cost or how long it would take. Too often, it felt like we had to plug in and hope for the best.
From a personal tool to something we could share
As a web developer, I decided to build a tool for myself so I could better understand charging times and costs for my own EV. That became EV Calculated.
Once I had something useful, I decided to make it freely accessible to everyone. Whether you already drive an EV or are thinking about getting one, the aim is to help you feel more confident about what charging could cost and how it fits into your day.
Free, without the catch
There are no hidden charges, subscriptions or paid tiers. All of EV Calculated is free to use, simply to help other EV owners and anyone considering the switch.
Less guesswork. More going.
Explore charging times and costs, compare charging options, or see how EV energy costs compare with petrol or diesel. The results are estimates, but understanding the numbers makes planning a little easier.
Have an idea or spotted something we could improve? We would love to hear from you.
Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
- Charging calculations run on your device. Your saved cars and estimates are not uploaded to our service.
- Maps and optional Charger Alerts use online services. Alerts stores your chosen watches and, if you enable Near home, your selected home point.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. You can use the calculator without setting up Alerts.
- Privacy questions: help@evcalculated.com.
Who is responsible and what this covers
EV Calculated is operated by Lewis Houghton, the individual developer of EV Calculated, who is responsible for the personal information described here (the data controller). Contact help@evcalculated.com for privacy questions or requests.
This policy covers evcalculated.com, its home-screen web app and the installed EV Calculated app. Maps and Charger Alerts apply to the installed app, not the website calculator. The Android app is distributed through Google Play. iOS is being prepared and is not currently distributed; references to iPhone explain the intended platform differences.
Your calculator and saved information
Vehicle choices and names, battery levels, charging times, electricity prices, efficiency, charging losses, comparisons and appearance/unit preferences are processed on your device. Saved estimates include the inputs, results and saved date. Vehicle searches use the catalogue included with the app, rather than sending your search to a vehicle-data service.
The website uses browser local storage and caches files for offline use. The installed app uses private app storage for cars, settings, saved estimates, favourite chargers, access credentials and a local copy of Alerts information. These records do not synchronise between devices. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for the current app; an iPhone's device backup settings may include app data in an Apple device backup.
We use device storage to provide the choices, saved records and offline features you request, not to track you for advertising. The calculator has no advertising or behavioural analytics code. Online providers still process technical information to deliver and protect their services.
Maps, searches and location
The installed charger finder uses Google Maps. When location permission is available, it can use your foreground location when you open the finder or choose the location control. You can decline permission and search by town/postcode instead. We do not request background location tracking.
Map display sends the viewed area and technical connection information to Google. Nearby searches send selected coordinates, search radius and relevant filters to our Cloudflare service. Town/postcode searches pass through that service to Google Geocoding. We do not save those search coordinates or search text in our application database. This does not mean that network providers process no request information.
A saved Near home point is different: if you enable this optional Alerts feature, the point you choose, reference charger and matching preferences are stored on our service until you remove them or your Alerts setup expires. It does not continuously track your phone. Public charger information comes from participating networks and data suppliers; it is not a record of your charging sessions.
Optional Charger Alerts and notifications
Setting up Alerts creates an installation record without requiring an account or your name. Our Cloudflare service stores an installation identifier, a hash of its access credential, selected charger watches and charging/payment options, alert preferences, optional home point and reference charger, device time zone and quiet hours, activity timestamps, and update/read/delivery records. These identifiers distinguish installations and are not treated as anonymous information.
If you enable phone notifications, we also store your device platform and an encrypted push registration token. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging processes installation identifiers, tokens and message information to deliver notifications; iPhone delivery also uses Apple's push service. Messages can contain a charger name and update details. The generic-notification option reduces detail in the displayed message. Your phone's lock-screen settings also affect who can see it.
You can use Updates without phone notifications. Turning off notifications in EV Calculated removes the service's push endpoint and stops requested pushes; it does not delete your watches or inbox. Turning off a phone permission alone does not immediately erase remote records. Stop individual watches, turn off Near home, or use Settings → Charger Alerts notifications → Delete alert setup while online to remove the whole setup.
Hosting, access and service providers
Cloudflare provides website hosting, APIs and databases. It processes request and connection information such as IP address, requested resource, device/browser information and time to deliver and secure the service. The app automatically creates a random access credential on your device. Our service stores its hash, creation/activity and expiry dates, revocation state and request counts to protect access and limit costs. For automatic setup, we process your connection IP address and retain a daily hashed identifier for rate limiting; we do not store the raw address in our application database. Legacy tester-code records may also remain.
Google provides Maps, Geocoding and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Zoho Mail handles support email. Apple provides iPhone push delivery and any device backup you choose when an iOS version is available. Store operators handle downloads and testing under their own terms. We use providers for the functions described here, rather than selling them your data for advertising.
Further information: Cloudflare privacy, Google privacy, Firebase privacy and security, Zoho privacy and Apple privacy.
Help, email and sharing
Help searches and editable email drafts stay on the page and are not sent to our server or saved by Help. Opening an email draft does not send it. If you send an email, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to include, and use them to respond and investigate. Please remove unnecessary personal, payment and location details from screenshots. We do not use support messages for advertising.
The general Share control shares the app link and description. Charger/location sharing includes the selected public charger details and link. Your chosen email, sharing, navigation or charging-provider app handles what you send under its own policy. EV Calculated does not collect your card details or take payment for a charging session. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Why we use personal information
We rely on legitimate interests to operate and secure EV Calculated, provide the searches and optional Alerts you request, prevent misuse, troubleshoot faults and answer support messages. We limit this processing to what is needed for those purposes and consider its effect on your privacy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Location and notification permissions give you control over those device features; they are separate from our legal basis for processing. You can revoke them in your device settings. Providing an Alerts setup, home point or support message is optional: declining it means that particular feature or response is unavailable, but you can still use the calculator. We rely on legal obligation where we must handle information to comply with applicable law, including responding to data-protection requests. We do not use your information for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects made solely by automated processing.
How long information is kept
- Local cars, settings, favourites and saves: until you remove them, clear the relevant storage or the device/browser removes them. Up to 50 estimates are retained; saving more replaces older estimates. Removing a car does not remove copies in saved estimates.
- Alerts inbox: entries older than 90 days are removed by scheduled daily cleanup. You can delete them sooner.
- Alerts setup, watches, home point and push endpoint: until you delete them, or scheduled cleanup removes an installation after 180 days without an app refresh. Cleanup is not instantaneous at the time limit.
- Routine support email: deleted within 12 months after the conversation is resolved. Relevant records may be kept longer while needed for an ongoing dispute or legal obligation.
- Access and security records: automatic app-access records expire after 180 days without renewal and are removed by daily cleanup. Daily access counters, including hashed connection identifiers, are kept for up to eight days; monthly counters for up to four months. Revocation records and legacy tester records are reviewed when access ends or an investigation closes. Revoked credentials remain blocked.
Deletion from our live service is distinct from provider backup, security and delivery retention. Providers may retain limited copies for recovery, security or legal requirements under their applicable terms; the periods depend on the service and record. Contact us for information about retention relevant to a request. We do not promise immediate erasure from every provider system.
Deleting data and your choices
Remove cars in My EVs, estimates in Saved and favourites in the charger finder. For the website, clearing this site's browser data removes local records and cached files; removing a home-screen shortcut alone may not do so.
For the installed app, delete Alerts while online before clearing device storage or uninstalling. Settings → Clear saved app data first deletes configured remote Alerts data and needs a connection for that step. Android's Clear storage or uninstall removes local data but does not immediately delete the remote setup. On iPhone, deleting the app removes local data; offloading retains it. Device backups are managed separately in your device settings.
We cannot retrieve or remotely delete local-only calculator records. If you have lost access to an installation, email us: we will explain what we can identify and do, without promising to recover local records or locate an unnamed installation. Do not email access codes, secret tokens or passwords.
International processing and protection
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK, including in Europe, the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Applicable safeguards may include UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum. Provider arrangements are described in Cloudflare's data processing terms, Firebase's data processing terms and Zoho's UK privacy information. Contact us for details or a copy of safeguards applicable to your information.
Connections to our services use HTTPS, Alerts access requires an installation credential and stored push tokens are encrypted. These measures reduce risk but no system can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and email account.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to processing, and receive certain information in a portable form. Email help@evcalculated.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify a request and identify the relevant records. We normally respond within one month, subject to the extensions and exceptions allowed by law.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact us first.
Changes to this policy
We will update this notice when our practices change and show the date above. Material changes will be brought to your attention through the website or app as appropriate.

Common questions
Getting started
Choose your version and find your way around.
What works on the website and in the app?
The website and its home-screen version include Calculate, Compare, EV vs Fuel, your EVs and saved estimates. Charger search, favourites and Charger Alerts are features of the installed app. Download the Android app from Google Play for charger search and Alerts. The iOS app is coming soon. App access is set up automatically; no access code is needed.
EV Calculated is free to use, with no paid tiers or customer account needed for the calculator. You still pay the charging operator for electricity and any provider subscription you choose.
How do I install or update EV Calculated?
On iPhone, open this website in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, use your browser’s Install app or Add to Home screen option. This installs the web version, which does not include charger search or Alerts.
To update the website, close all EV Calculated tabs and home-screen windows, then reopen while online. Let any download finish, close and reopen again if needed. Avoid clearing website data: it can remove your cars, settings and saves.
Where do I find EV vs Fuel and my cars?
Open Compare → EV vs Fuel to compare electricity and petrol or diesel costs. Choose Charging options beside it to compare two ways to charge.
Open My EVs, or select the vehicle shown in a calculator, to add, edit or switch cars. Use Settings for units, currency, charging losses and comparison rates.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
Open the website online first and wait for “Ready for offline use”. The calculator, vehicle catalogue and Help can then work offline in that browser or home-screen app. Saved estimates keep their original assumptions.
Email, external links and downloading updates need a connection. The website’s Map and Alerts pages explain the installed-app features; they do not provide offline charger information.
Charging estimates
Understand costs, time, range and what is included.
How is driving efficiency calculated?
Where matching figures are available, we calculate driving efficiency as full-charge range divided by usable battery capacity. For example, 300 miles divided by 75 kWh gives 4 miles per kWh. These values are labelled as calculated planning estimates, not measured driving performance.
Some estimates use a standard-equipment reference, the lower end of an applicable published range band, or a provisional manufacturer figure. Their labels explain this and identify any equipment or source qualifications. Actual range varies with your car and driving conditions.
Where a source explicitly estimates usable battery capacity for the matching battery version, we may use it as a labelled starting estimate. This is shown separately from the calculated range estimate because battery capacity also affects charging energy, cost and time. You can replace it with your own figure.
Charging cost and time depend on battery capacity, charge levels, power, price and charging losses; they do not need driving efficiency. If a supported range is missing, you can still use those estimates. Range added, cost per mile and EV vs Fuel need a full-charge range or your observed driving efficiency. You can add either in My EV. Your own saved values are kept.
How do I estimate a charge?
- Select your EV and a charging option. Check the charger power and electricity price.
- Enter your starting battery level. Choose By target charge and an ending level, or By charging time and a duration.
- Review the estimated energy cost, time or battery reached, and range added.
In the Android app, you can use a supported charger price from the Map. You can also enter a price manually.
What electricity price should I enter?
Enter the price for one kWh from your electricity supplier or charging provider. GBP electricity rates are entered and displayed in pence: for example, enter 7.5 for 7.5p/kWh or 79 for 79p/kWh. Presets are examples, not live quotes.
In Calculate and EV vs Fuel, use the minus and plus buttons to adjust the rate, or type directly into the box. GBP prices accept up to 1,000p/kWh in steps of 0.1p. Other currencies accept up to 10 per kWh, with up to three decimal places. Displayed GBP rates round to at most two decimal places in pence, with unnecessary trailing zeros omitted. Calculations retain the original rate.
Changing currency changes the label, not the value: there is no exchange-rate conversion. UK charger-price imports require GBP.
Why is my actual cost, charging time or range different?
These are planning estimates. Your car’s charging limit, battery temperature and charge level, shared charger power and battery condition can change charging time. DC charging usually slows as the battery fills; peak kW is not sustained throughout a charge.
Cost depends on the actual supplied electricity, rate and fees. Range depends on your driving, weather and vehicle efficiency. Check your usable battery capacity and edit efficiency to match the miles or kilometres per kWh reported by your car. Published range is not guaranteed real-world range.
What are charging losses?
Not all electricity supplied by the charger reaches the battery: some powers the equipment and vehicle. We allow for that when estimating billed energy. For example, adding 18 kWh to the battery with 10% losses needs about 20 kWh from the supply.
Adjust the separate three-pin, wallbox/public AC and DC loss assumptions in Settings. Use driving efficiency from your car for range estimates, rather than bill-based consumption that already includes charging losses.
Are parking, idle fees and subscriptions included?
Charging estimates show energy cost only. Parking, connection, idle/overstay and other additional fees are excluded. A displayed provider subscription is not automatically divided between your charging sessions.
Check the selected provider’s price, payment eligibility and extra charges before you start. A charger may remain billable for parking or idle time after the battery is full; our estimate does not include that.
What if charging crosses a cheap-rate boundary?
The calculator uses one selected energy rate throughout the estimate. It does not divide a session between cheap and standard-rate periods.
Networks can apply different rules. Osprey’s supported time-based options use the UK-local session start time; do not assume that rule applies to another network. Read the selected option’s timing conditions and confirm the provider’s terms before charging.
How do the sliders and battery graphic work?
In Calculate and EV vs Fuel, Home offers a 3-pin plug or Wallbox. Public offers Destination, Rapid or Ultra-rapid, plus Find a public charger. Each tab has two example electricity rates. Home and Public remember separate electricity rates in Calculate and EV vs Fuel. The first example rates are 7.5p/kWh for Home and 54p/kWh for Public; enter your actual tariff or charger price. Switching tabs keeps your battery settings but resets the charger power to the chosen location’s default. In Calculate, charging-point power can be typed directly or adjusted by 0.1 kW for AC and 1 kW for DC with the minus and plus buttons. In Compare, enter charging-point power and electricity price directly. Your car’s charging limit is applied separately.
Drag a slider horizontally, or type into the charge-level and rate fields. On a touchscreen, vertical swipes scroll without changing the slider. On the battery graphic, drag near the boundary for the starting or ending level you want to change.
Charging time uses 15-minute steps. Dragging the ending battery level in time mode rounds the required time up, so the result may be slightly higher than the level you chose, but never above 100%.
Compare your options
Home versus public charging, or EV versus fuel.
How do I compare two charging options?
Open Compare → Charging options. Select the EV, starting charge and either the same target charge or the same charging time. Set the power and electricity rate separately for Option A and Option B. In the installed app, each option can use a supported public charger price.
The results compare cost and time using those assumptions. View in Calculate transfers the chosen scenario and vehicle to Calculate. The comparison keeps its own inputs, so changing Calculate does not automatically change both comparison options.
How do I compare an EV with petrol or diesel?
Open Compare → EV vs Fuel. Enter the total distance for your trip, month or year, then the EV charging rate, fuel price and fuel economy. Efficiency is calculated automatically from the selected EV’s full-charge range and usable battery capacity, where those values are available. Check the charging losses. If range is unavailable, add your full-charge range or observed driving efficiency in My EV to use this comparison.
The period labels the distance you enter; it does not multiply it. For 10,000 miles a year, enter 10,000 and select Annual. UK MPG and US MPG use different gallons: choose the correct fuel-economy unit in Settings.
Using one public charger price assumes all modelled EV charging uses that rate. This compares electricity and fuel costs, not insurance, servicing, purchase price or total ownership cost.
Why does a comparison differ from my main estimate?
Check the vehicle, battery levels or duration, charger power, electricity prices and loss assumptions in each view. Compare has independent inputs. EV vs Fuel also depends on entered distance and fuel economy.
The speed and cost rows beneath Calculate use that session’s energy and their own charging assumptions. Their example rates can be edited in Settings → Comparison settings.
Finding chargers and prices
Charger finder guidance for the installed app.
These features are in the Android app. iOS is coming soon.
How do I find chargers near me or somewhere else?
- Open Map and use your location, or search for a town, postcode or address. Location permission is optional when you search by address.
- Move the map and choose Search this area when you want results for a different area. You can also use List.
- Check the selected EV, connector and power filters, then open a location to choose a charging option.
Why is a charger missing, or my map empty?
We show participating networks where usable information is available, not every UK charger. A location can also be hidden by your area, connector or power filters.
- Check your connection and any access or service message in the app. Search for the town/postcode again.
- Try a wider area, lower power filter or Show all chargers / switch off connector matching. Check the selected EV.
- Try List if the map will not load. If the location is still missing, check with the operator.
If the whole search keeps failing, contact us with the area searched, filters and the error shown. Reinstalling is not a useful first step.
What do the dots, charger icons and From prices mean?
In crowded areas we use smaller dots to keep the map readable. Zoom in or tap to see details. Locations at the same coordinates can share a marker: choose the location you need from the list.
A From price is a starting price across the eligible charging options. It is not a guaranteed price for every connector, payment method or vehicle. Open the location and check your selected option.
Will a matching charger work at the speed shown?
A matching connector and maximum charging speed are different things. Your vehicle must support the connection and charging type, and charging speed is limited by the vehicle as well as the charger.
Check or edit your vehicle’s connector profile when it is unknown. Show all chargers lets you inspect other options, but does not confirm compatibility. Peak DC power is not the average power for a full session.
What do the availability labels mean?
Available means at least one of the shown options is reported available. In use means charging has been reported. Out of order means a fault has been reported. Availability unknown means we cannot confirm whether it is free. A charger reported working may still be occupied.
The summary covers the charging options shown by your filters. Different plugs with the same charger ID can be alternatives on the same machine; their number does not tell us how many cars can charge together or how many parking spaces are free.
Check the individual option and supplier check time. Reports can be delayed, and availability may change before you arrive. Refresh reads the information available to us; it cannot guarantee a new report from the operator.
Why is a price missing or different from the provider?
Prices can vary by location, connector, payment method and time. Check that you have selected the same option in both apps. Supplier information can be older than the provider’s latest price; unsupported or stale prices may be unavailable for calculations. Opening an expired charger or connector, or returning to its screen, automatically checks our latest stored information. If the check fails, use Retry update or check with the provider. A flat price may remain visible for up to 24 hours as a dated, unconfirmed price; it cannot be used as a current calculation quote. Promotional deadlines and time-based prices still apply.
A published offer or advertised network minimum is not always a confirmed price for that location. Confirm the actual rate and fees with the operator before starting. If the same option still looks wrong, report the location, connector, payment method and time checked.
Which payment option or provider plan should I choose?
Choose the payment method you intend to use, such as contactless or the provider’s app. Check account/subscription eligibility and any time or location conditions. Different methods can have different prices.
Supplier prices and published provider offers may have different scopes. Follow the labels on the selected option rather than assuming a headline price applies everywhere. Provider subscription charges are separate from our energy estimate.
How do I calculate, get directions or start charging?
Open a location and choose a charging option. When only one matches, its prices open straight away. Check the plug, speed, payment method and any extra fees, then use Calculate cost. Subscription prices require the stated plan; ordinary app prices are shown separately.
Choose Calculate, Compare or EV vs Fuel as your destination. If you entered the finder from a calculator, the selected supported price returns there. Use the selected-charger return control to try another option; Use manual settings removes the charger selection.
Get directions opens an external maps service. Provider links open the operator’s service; match the physical charger reference or label there. EV Calculated does not start or stop charging sessions or take payment.
Your EVs and saved information
Cars, favourites, saved estimates and device storage.
My car or exact version is missing. What can I do?
Check the model and variant, not just its registration year. If the right version is unavailable, add a car manually using its usable battery capacity, charging limits and connector details. Manufacturer specifications or your handbook can help.
You can edit a saved vehicle and enter its full-charge range to calculate efficiency automatically, or set driving efficiency from your own driving. To report a catalogue correction, include the model/variant, the value that looks wrong and a manufacturer source if you have one.
How do I add, switch, edit or remove a car?
Open My EVs or the vehicle in your calculator. Choose Add another car, select a brand or search across all brands, then choose a model and version name. Choosing a brand shows its models directly beneath the dropdown and clears the search; searching clears the brand selection. Version names are listed alphabetically. Identical specifications from different source years appear as one choice. Where a name has different specifications, compare the battery, charging limits and fitted equipment. Years appear as identifiers only where their applicability has been reviewed; source listing years remain in the expandable data-source details. Registration year alone may not identify the correct specification. Charging options and software upgrades can also change an older car’s charging limit. Match your fitted equipment. Full model, version and specification lists are shown by default; scroll to find your car. Charging specifications are shown before selection; go Back without losing your place. Single-option steps are skipped. Check the summary and any provisional or missing values; use Edit details to change them before Save my EV. Manual entry is also available. Catalogue and specification background can be expanded below the relevant action button. Select a saved car to use it; use its Edit or Remove control to change it.
A removal can be undone briefly using Undo. Removing a car does not remove estimates already saved for it. Older saved estimates retain their own vehicle assumptions.
How do favourites, alerts and saved estimates work?
Favourite: a charger in your shared Map favourites and Alerts → My chargers list. Opening it fetches the location’s details when online. Its alert switch opens the choices for that charger.
Saved estimate: a snapshot of the vehicle, price and other assumptions you used. It is not automatically repriced.
Charger watch: a selected charger/price option monitored for supported updates in Alerts. Adding a favourite offers to set up alerts. Alerts are off until you save your choices; turning them off keeps the favourite.
Will saved estimates update to the latest price?
No. A saved estimate keeps the price and assumptions you used when you saved it. Opening it does not check or replace that price.
For a new trip, reopen the charger details and deliberately use a current supported price to make a new estimate. The saved date or feed-check date describes that snapshot, not a fresh price check.
Where are my saves, and can I move or recover them?
Cars, settings and up to 50 saved estimates are stored in this browser on this device. They do not sync to another browser, phone or the Android app. Saving a 51st estimate replaces the oldest.
Clearing website data, private browsing or browser storage removal can lose saves. If you see a storage warning, changes may last only for that visit. Return to the original browser/device to look for missing saves; we cannot remotely recover browser-only data.
Charger Alerts
Watches, phone notifications and Near home in the app.
These features are in the Android app. iOS is coming soon.
How do I watch a charger or stop watching it?
Use Watch this price on a charging option, or add a charger in Alerts → My chargers. Select one or more Connectors and Payment options, choose What to be notified about, then tap Create Alert. Existing choices use Save alert choices.
Phone notifications are optional: you can use the Updates Feed without enabling them. Turn alerts off keeps the favourite and Near home reference. Removing a favourite removes its alerts and turns off Near home if it is the reference. Saved estimates are unchanged.
Why is there an update but no phone notification?
- Open Alerts → Updates Feed to see whether the event arrived in the app.
- Open Settings → Charger Alerts notifications. Check notifications are enabled, then check EV Calculated’s notification permission in your phone settings.
- Check quiet hours, your connection and the app version. Quiet hours are off by default and use device time. Use the main Save settings button at the bottom to save your notification choices.
Reports and delivery can be delayed, and not every report produces a fresh push. Reports received during quiet hours stay in Updates without a device notification. If it persists, tell us the event time and whether it appears in the feed.
Why is my test notification missing or limited?
After enabling notifications, use Send a test notification in Settings → Charger Alerts notifications. Give it a few minutes, then check both Updates and the phone’s notification area.
Tests are limited to prevent repeated sends. If you reach the allowance, wait for it to reset instead of retrying. Clearing Updates does not reset the allowance. A test entry in Updates does not by itself prove the phone displayed a notification. Include its time if you contact support.
How does Near home work, and why are there no matches?
Add a charger to your favourites on the map first. In Near home, use your current location, pick a map point or search an address. The next step appears after you choose a location: pick a favourite charger, then choose whether matches must be the same price or cheaper and the same speed or faster. Save the near-home watch. Selecting a point alone does not activate it. Your movements are not tracked.
Near home looks for newly added chargers closer to that point, within 31 miles (50 km), with compatible connections and your selected price/speed preferences. It compares the cheapest published energy price when no payment choice is saved. Unconfirmed payment labels and extra fees do not exclude chargers. Different tariff periods and fees still apply; check the details before travelling. New matches use at most one daily push.
It is not a continuous search for every existing cheaper charger. No matches can be normal; check the reference and any Needs attention message.
Why did the badge disappear, and how do I delete Alerts data?
Opening Updates Feed clears the navigation badge. Recent entries can still be marked New this visit. Removing an update is separate from stopping its charger watch.
To remove watches, the home point and update history from our service, use Settings → Charger Alerts notifications → Delete alert setup while online. Cars and saved estimates remain. Uninstalling alone does not immediately delete server-side setup.
Updates are retained for 90 days; setup is removed after 180 days without an app refresh. Watches have no cross-device recovery. See the Privacy policy for more about optional Alerts processing.
Something is not working
Recover safely and contact the right support team.
The screen or latest update is not working. What should I try?
Check your connection when using online features. Close and reopen EV Calculated and follow the update instructions for your version. If a map fails, try List or address search.
Do not clear storage or uninstall as a first step. That can remove your saved information. If the problem continues, send the exact steps, error text, time and app/browser version. Remove personal information from screenshots.
The charger will not start, or I need a refund. Who can help?
Contact the charging operator using the details on the charger or in its app. They can help with starting/stopping a session, charger faults, a stuck cable and payment or refund questions.
EV Calculated cannot control the charger or issue charging refunds. If our displayed information or calculations look wrong, report that to us with the location and selected option.
Still need help?
EV Calculated is independently run. A few useful details help us get to the right answer sooner.
For a charger that will not start, a payment problem or a refund, contact the charging operator.
